Our Paint Process: OEM Paint Match, Verified by VIN

An OEM paint match here means your factory color code, confirmed against your VIN with the vehicle manufacturer, sprayed in PPG Envirobase High Performance waterborne paint. That is the whole process in one sentence. Here is the longer version, step by step, including what happens after the box arrives.

Step 1: You order with your VIN and paint code

Every order starts with two identifiers: your VIN and your factory paint code. The code sits on your vehicle’s information sticker, usually in the driver-side door jamb, the glove box, or under the hood. Cannot find it? Send the VIN and a general color with your order and we confirm the exact code for you. Our guide to finding your paint code by VIN covers every major make.

Step 2: We confirm everything with the manufacturer

Before a part is ordered or a drop of paint is mixed, we work directly with the vehicle manufacturer to confirm the part fits your exact build and that the code is correct. If your rear bumper carries backup sensors, the VIN check catches it and the right variant gets ordered. This step is why nothing later in the chain involves guessing.

Step 3: A brand-new part, painted to your code

We source the part new, genuine OEM or clearly labeled OE-replacement, then spray it in PPG Envirobase High Performance waterborne basecoat mixed to your factory formula. The result is a durable, factory-quality finish in your car’s original color. Paint work takes 5 days from the moment the part reaches our shop.

Step 4: Inspection and flat packing

After paint, each part is inspected and packed flat with protective wrap. We never fold a part to save on freight, because folding is how painted bumpers develop stress cracks before they ever meet the car. A light dusting of baby powder keeps the wrap from sticking to the fresh surface, and it rinses away with plain water.

Step 5: It arrives ready to install

The part shows up dry, color-matched, and ready to bolt on using the hardware already on your vehicle. One thing worth knowing: automotive paint keeps curing beneath the surface after it feels dry. Give it 30 to 45 days before applying wax, sealant, or a clear bra so the finish can cure completely.

What the lifetime warranty covers

The paint on every part carries a lifetime warranty against fading, peeling, and cracking under normal use. Damage from impacts, chemicals, or improper installation is not covered. Claims start with an email to admin@genuineoempaintedparts.com and we make it right from there.

What we do not paint

Two honest limits. We do not paint or ship aftermarket body kits, because kits usually need modification during installation and a pre-installed fit and finish cannot be guaranteed. And our shop paints the brand-new parts we sell, sourced and verified through the process above, rather than parts shipped to us.

Questions about the paint match

Is this a true OEM paint match?

Yes, in the sense that matters: the color is mixed to the exact code your vehicle manufacturer assigned to your car, confirmed with the manufacturer against your VIN. An OEM paint match is a formula match, not a by-eye comparison in a parking lot.

What if my current paint has faded?

We paint to the factory formula. A panel that has spent a decade in harsh sun can drift slightly from that formula, which is true of any code-matched paint work, including a body shop’s. If your paint is heavily faded or the car wears a non-factory repaint, send a part inquiry first and we will talk it through before you order.

Why waterborne paint?

Envirobase High Performance is the type of system leading vehicle manufacturers trust, and staying with what the factories use is how the finish and durability line up with the panels around your new part.

Does every part get the same process?

Every single one, from a $115 tow hook cover to an $1,800 Tesla bumper: VIN verification, factory-code mix, Envirobase paint, inspection, flat packing, lifetime warranty.
